I ve read about this rule on a different thread here on HC, there was a "change of director's interest notice" and some discussants were whining that they will have to wait for at least two weeks before recieving any price senstive news, so to be honest i did not refer to ASIC to confirm the accuracy of this rule, but it made sense to me because allowing directors to buy shares on market right before the release of price-sensetive info would be insider trading and implies a conflict of interest!
