Exactly. In fact well known serial pest/activist Stephen Mayne brags about his 10 shares in WDS and the rights it gives him to make trouble and ‘make WDS accountable’
He shows up at AGMs and other forums and gets in the way of the company getting its business done and makes a lot of other noise via social media.
Changing the rules in favour of small shareholders would invite hundreds more activist FWits onto the share register …..costing $millions in extra administration pushing back against the issues they raise and trouble they cause…..but worse than that….if they get their numbers high enough they could start voting through big decisions that ultimately bring about the demise of the company (in the case of WDS a ‘victory’ when you’re an anti fossil fuel activist and you only have 10 shares on the line)
