As a LT holder from Aug 15, I'm still in shock about how they got it so wrong.
If a trained nurse at the best research hospitals in US in a controlled environment can't get a good recording, or the algorithm isn't advanced enough to filter out background noise from typical equipment in a ED or even a TV, then how can they expect an untrained parent at home late at night with a sick child and the TV on in the background to give a good enough recording via a video link to a Telehealth doctor for them to give a diagnosis?
Even after over 8 years of research it fails in an environment that could have been tested in prior to 'sitting the exam'. Previous posters have previously suggested MGH would have tested it before conducting the trials. That would be a reasonable assumption, but that beggars belief now.
I hope for the sake of sick kids (and their parents) that they can fix this, but it will be a long long time away.
