Lots of wise words have been offered here.

Just want a few of my own:

1. We all lose some and win some at some point - knowing when to take money off the table is as important as picking the right stock to invest in; that comes with experience,

2. Never put all (or most) of your eggs in one basket - especially a speculative stock - I learnt my the hard way; losing over $400k on LYC,

3. Don't buy the hype - DYOR,

4. Learnt your lessons and move on - there is always another opportunity to make your money back, and

5. Invest in an industry (sector) that you understand.
