The states mostly get their money from the feds and in real terms the feds have been supplying less and less.
So infrastructure has run down, especially public hospitals and dental care.
Sure the states may or may not be good managers but that does not alter the fact that they have had less in real terms from the commonwealth even after GST revenues are distributed while the feds have been rolling in money some of which they threw away on a useless war and intervention.
