Well, that announcement sparked off a flood of comment, not! That is a lot of lithium, do we have the supply capability in Australia or will it be imported. The promoter has said up and running 100 days from sign-off or it's free, so he must have guaranteed supply. This is a large battery with the capability of supplying the entire state, albeit for only 3 minutes. I gather it is mainly a buffer to smooth the wild fluctuations in wind tower supply. SA confidence in power supply is trending towards zero, I have solar and battery back up to keep me going during any power outs as I live near the end of a single phase line. Sales of diesel gensets are booming, which rather defeats the carbon reduction.
It is being promoted as a major tourist attraction :the "big battery"
