No worries and good points. Tropics is a totally different story. I was more thinking like what we have on Lake Yarrunga (Kangaroo River) down in NSW. They have a 2 x 120MW pumped hydro and when the water goes over the dam they can pump up to Fitroy Falls and it flows down the other side into Warragamba. It doesn't happen often as you say and the volume pumped in flood is insignificant compared to what goes out to sea. Personally I think storage is a distraction in the energy debated but that doesn't mean its not worthwhile sometimes.
