Sigh
a) there is no potable groundwater within cooeeee of Cougar's trial burn ... in fact it is so saline it cannot even legally be used for animals ... and certainly it would kill any crops irrigated with it.
b) Kingaroy township appears to be regionally elevated terrain ... RL 450-500m and the land falls to the north, south, east and west to something like RL 390-420m at distances of 15-30km.
c) Coolabunia appears to be about 10 km to the south-east of Kingaroy on land falling overall to the south and east. Groundwater movement tends to reflect regional surface falls.
d) Gordonbrook Dam is located about 30 km to the north-west of Coolabunia ... thats uphill for 10 km to Kingaroy then 20 km to fall about 30m to Gordonbrook Dam.
e) Last time I checked, water didn't flow uphill ... even downhill, groundwater might move at something like 2-10m per year so thats something like 3000 yrs minimum to flow 30 km.
They should jail this coote for being so poorly informed, or is that deliberately "misinformed"?
And the South Burnett Times should at least stand for substantiated reporting imo ... what a weak editorial effort imo.
