maybe I am wrong, but the big question is at what SP are the shorts still 'in the money'? wouldn't you expect shorters to take profits the same way longs do, i.e. covering and shorting again in the DT? Hence, there break-even might be much lower than what you mentioned above.
Like you, I think most of those 165Mil remaining shorts are covered by dark pool trading.
