You pointed out right about new buyers. Other way of looking at it is:
If 40% of the people who bought after the ann are LT, there are much less shares in the market + all the existing LT holders. This will bring situation where there are not many shares in the market for a decent quantity. This will only escalate the SP in the medium term. Its been a good day for me averaging UP. Few more orders to go through........
