I think you are wrong and don't understand the way the markets work. People are always talking about massive amounts on the sidelines. There are no sidelines. For every seller there is a buyer. It will take a long time for prices to return to where they were. Some of the biggest investment banks in the world are worth between 25% to 10% of what they were worth over a year ago. This and the heavy regulation that is coming will ensure this never happens again.
The full effect hasn't been felt here in aus. The housing market will follow the US. The only difference will be the timelines.
