Gympie and the previous operations have no relevance to the current plans for Norton. The arsenic contamination in Gympie's tailings dam was the result of 100 years of activity within the Gympie area, not six months of handling a minor amount of ore from Norton. Nor will previous arsenic use at Norton be an issue for the current project as they will be excavating around the Frampton & Chandler leases which are on higher ground and well set above the ancient crusher and old open cut that ' Norton goldfields' were exploiting in 2006.
