Since the 22 Dec 09 acquisition anns. there has not been a significant SP retrace like today's and i am not aware of any reason for it unless there is some concerted short selling activity taking place. The movement in the buy/sell depth makes me suspect short selling as one likely reason for the retrace so tomorrow's short stats should be interesting.

The last significant attempt to drive the SP down by the shorters occurred on 31 Dec 09 with a total of 41.2% (345K) short sells so its not as if they haven't tried it on since 22 Dec.
