I wish i started my SMSF even at 19k. It's not too late to do it and smart if you do if you have many years to compound your returns. At least you are in control of your Super as opposed to dropping it in a fund managed by someone else where your options may be limited. I use Esuperfund and am happy with them.
There is a lot of paperwork involved in setup however.
