SOI is not a material issue. Tins of beens, USD vs Peso. they are just units of trade. However as you say, liquidity of thise units is the relative factor.
With the majors holding not trading ☆, its down to short-term, swing, shorters and mid-terrm traders. This week it took just 3% of SOI to move the SP 140%.
☆ It appears to me a major holder has leveraged /loaned a portion of their holding (again), which enabled the SP drop prior to the latest harmonic balance.
