Thanks for that goldbug's saying. After being repeatedly slapped around over the last 5 years between April and August I suspected there must be some sort of seasonal factors affecting the investment climate for small mining companies. The volatility is a bit too hot for me to handle and I would benefit from some respite.
Buying shares on a margin loan is OK in an uptrending market - you just got to be lucky enough to pick an uptrending market. I used this facility OK in 2005-2007, but not so well in 2008 (only had about $17k loan money invested at the bottom), and poorly early this year trying to make some extra gains on goldies. It is high risk so I would only do it for a short period on a spec trade (say 2-4 months) and not for a long term investment in goldies.
Well the CAC, DAX and FTSE100 have become less negative (now down less than 1%), while the S&P500 is up 0.11%. There is hope tomorrow for our goldies.
