Archie and anyone not familiar with LNC events of mid to late 2008 when S/P hit $5.39 in late Sept.
LNC had delays in commissioning their demo GTL plant at Chinchilla (1st UCG to GTL in the world) from Feb to Aug 2008.
-On 18 Aug they advised that they had handed over the plant to the operational team for start up operations- http://www.lincenergy.com/data/asxpdf/asx-93.pdf
-On 5 Sept they advised Sale of Teresa for $1,500 Million (it was actually an HOA). (about $3.75 per share at the time) http://www.lincenergy.com/data/asxpdf/asx-94.pdf
- On 9 Sept they advised increase in JORC for Chichilla from 401MT to 600MT. http://www.lincenergy.com/data/asxpdf/asx-95.pdf
-On 11 Sept they advised they had signed a Ltr of Intent with the same Chinese Coy (that they sold Teresa to) to JV UCG and GTL in China. http://www.lincenergy.com/data/asxpdf/asx-96.pdf
- On 26 Sept Sapex confirmed their shareholders had voted to merge with LNC. http://www.lincenergy.com/data/asxpdf/asx-97.pdf
- On 10 Oct there was a trading halt for LNC.
- On 14 Oct LNC announced first diesel produced at Chinchilla. http://www.lincenergy.com/data/asxpdf/asx-102.pdf
So that's what it took to get the S/P over $5 at that time. As we know , with the GFC, the Chinese Coy didn't go ahead with the HOA and no $1.5B was forthcoming.
While IMO LNC has the potential to sail past that $5 S/P, there is some way to go and multiple good news stories to come out.
