Possibly because, before start of trade today, Pilbara Minerals (PLS) announced it had reached agreement to acquire the significant and next-door operation of Altura (in administration), in conjunction with a significant capital raise. This signals strong investor appetite in the sector, and potential consolidation. Perhaps an expectation that LIT could come into play maybe? Or just, more simply, that all the fundamentals are pointing towards a strong global lithium market, and strong investor appetite to provide funding into the sector?
