Production was below my expectation (but within the lower bounds of their guidelines of the company) and down on the previous quarter, and costs are actually not falling - see how they revised upwards their forward cost estimates. The ore grade is very low and at present they expect an inprovement when they start hitting higher grades of 1.2 grams/tonne, which itself is pretty low grade.
The lack of improvement puts the company at increasing risk in a low price of gold environment. People have only so much patience and then when the deluge in selling starts it is hard to stop because it catches a lot of stop losses on the downside.
Those buying today will feel like heros if the POG shoots up tommorrow after the FOMC meeting. Are you feeling lucky?
