    But your misplaced query fits colincj's post, particularly the comment: "why would [instos] want the sp to rise when they can niggle away like they are doing"

    Well, fund performance is one good reason! The instos bought a pile of RED shares at $2.12. So, RED's lower price makes their fund performance look poor. Although presumably RED is a tiny part of their portfolio, every stock gain helps.

    In fact, my guess is that fund managers would love to buy in just before their stock becomes a multi bagger. This allows them to sell off some shares in short order to reinvest elsewhere and hold some shares to catch later appreciation. I can't imagine a fund manager who wants their shares to fall 50% then hope they stay there.

    For what it's worth, I bought a few more shares today, even though already overweighted on this stock in my OZ portfolio.
