There was a reason - the weathered layer was much thicker than they had thought. That has consequences for cost of mining - a lot of overlay to remove.
Guchab is different in that respect because the stuff overlaying the sulphides (assuming that they must be down there somewhere) should be profitable to mine. The deeper excavation of both Guchab (and Kaskara) could then be funded by cash flow generated.
They have not publicly given a timetable for the production of the maiden JORC nor a pfs nor a target for a mining licence application nor a plan for actual mining of the mineral, no matter how provisional.
