The so called pilot plant was a failure, it simply didn't function to how they thought it was supposed too.
I lean towards the side of the ATO when they called the operations of the so called pilot plant into question.
IMO Once NTU figured out that the ability of the plant was unable to do what they thought it was built to do was floored, then they really stepped up the R&D line.

NTU believed that the plant would be churning out at the very least a nameplate of 1100 tonnes annually, that is what they were saying back in the time when their offtake agreement with JFMAG stood.
ASX Ann 13/11/2018 page 11 last two lines:
"Additional production above nameplate capacity is not committed and available for offtake."


NTU was a prime example as to how separating a few periodic elements can pose many a challenge. How hard can it be seemed to be NTU's original attitude.
