The locations for the next 10 of 32 new Emergency Response Beacons to be installed along the NSW coastline were announced by the NSW Minister for Emergency Services in March 2024 following a roundtable on coastal safety convened by the Minister earlier in that month.
The locations approved for ERB installations in 2024 were listed as (but not necessarily limited to):
- Scotts Head;
- Spoon Bay;
- Fraser Park;
- Forresters Beach;
- Moonee Beach;
- Turrimetta;
- North Palm Beach;
- Austinmer;
- Woonoona; and,
- Bulli.
I had been wondering recently whether the State Government and SLS NSW might be dragging the chain a little on ERB installations when by mid-June, it seemed that of the above 10 locations, only Woonoona appeared to have had an ERB installed. However, I was pleased to note a Facebook post just two days ago from the NSW Premier no less, announcing that five ERBs on the above list had already been installed, as well as three other ERB installations made at other locations - those being Bateau Bay, Gordons Bay and Mahons Pool (see the NSW Premier's Facebook post below).
Always good to have a political leader taking an interest in, and spruiking the virtues of Spectur technology.
