Narrow band, which SAS are offering, requires much less power for M2M and IOT which is essential. Broadband simply requires too much power - its two different markets. Kind of like: does someone want to buy a floodlight for their front room or just a simple light bulb (SAS being the simple and effective lightbulb).
My opinion on Starlink is that I think too many other large and powerful corporations rule this area of the market for Musk to wipe everyone out. I imagine it progressing along a similar line as Telsa challenging the Auto industry - no doubt he will shake things up but there is no chance will he wipe out the already existing and well established competition. SAS are approaching a different market and faster - and cheaper.
For anyone who hasn't already read up on it (I imagine most here have) then have a google of "Teledesic".
