The sudden spurt of interest in the DOW - sun spot correlation brings up a serious point. How does one really know whether a correlation of something with something else does mean they have a real relationship? As the saying goes correlation is not necessarily causation. So true. Since no one as far as I know has proven that such correlations have any real basis of truth or are just coincidences, then all we can do is continue to watch the patterns unfold or unravel as the case may be. As robbb.. has alluded to, raw price is the only thing we can really go by. All other metrics are just vague hopes or clues at best or dangerous distractions at worst.
