Hi Guys I thought it may be helpful to add a discussion around strip ratio...Lindi strip ratio is 4.4:1, but what does it mean...
Basically, there are 5.4 tons of material moved to produce a single ton of feed Graphite...This ratio also includes the free dig stockpile estimated at 6% TGC and close to the ROM pad.To work out the ROM cost for a ton of feed grade its quite basic...
The EPC contractor is to be paid per ton mined US$3.14 To use the strip ratio and the per-ton costs are calculated as below to calculate ROM ton...
ROM mining cost per ton unit US$3.14 x (4.4+1)=$16.95 per ton Rom /17.9%= US$94.69
If you change the grade to a higher grade, the ROM ton is altered...
ROM mining cost per ton unit US$3.14 x (4.4+1)=$16.95 per ton Rom /23%= US$73.72

"ROM mining cost per ton unit US$3.14 x (4.4+1)=$16.95 per ton Rom /17.9%= US$94.69"
hi Croc, that is your calculation for WKT, which is moving 100% more material than the other company whose mining cost is expected to be US$112 per tonne.
Please explain how you expect to move twice the material for less. You only need to look at SYR who has a similar grade to WKT with a lower strip ratio and no selective mining method.
There total cost is around US$500-600 per tonne of concentrate produced (mining and processing), no doubt you still think wKT can produce graphite concentrate as per the outdated 2019 DFS @ US$349 per tonne.
Hi Spid81 do realise US$112 per product ton is way less than WKT have allowed…You have just compared ROM ton costs to product ton…
"ROM mining cost per ton unit US$3.14 x (4.4+1)=$16.95 per ton Rom /17.9%= US$94.69"hi Croc, that is your calculation for WKT, which is moving 100% more material than the other company whose mining cost is expected to be US$112 per tonne. Please explain how you expect to move twice the material for less?
So here we are where you are now completely confused and unable to assess the difference of projects confessing you like low strip ratio over higher grade advantage...
Regards Croc
