probably no relation to the subject,but many years ago in the UK they had a term for parts of surburbia called the 'Spam Belt'
These were people who bought houses in surburban estates
and struggled with their mortgage,usually young families trying to get ahead and who lived on tins of spam, potatoes and whitebread
probably no different from today
