have a research into "quadruple witching hour", happens every 3rd Friday (in USA), 4 types of options expire.
Thus I presume a lot of call and put options were finalised, and the balance on the NASDAQ holdings were reflected here COB ASX.
outcome is, there is always volatility at this time of the qtr. No FA change
