Special Concrete Required for Small Modular Reactors (SMR's)

    Hi,

It is quite possible that in order to reduce the amount of CO² emissions arising from the generation of electricity, the world may turn more and more to nuclear energy as a much cleaner energy alternative. In this regard, I am a big fan of Small Modular Reactors (SMR's). Rather than building huge nuclear reactors, SMR's are a far cheaper and safer solution.

    Here is one such project:

"Rolls-Royce plans 16 mini-nuclear plants for UK" By Justin Rowlatt - Chief environment correspondent - published November 11th, 2020:

The company NuScale Power is also developing a new modular light water reactor to supply reliable and abundant carbon-free nuclear energy through the use of SMR's.

What has all this to do with EDE you might ask?

In the construction of SMR's, lots of concrete is required. This concrete must have radiation-shielding properties, irradiation resistance, durability, energy-absorption capability and high-temperature resistance. In addition, its mechanical properties are also hugely important i.e. it must be High-Performance/High-Strength Concrete-HPC/HSC. Therefore, IMVHO, EdenCrete is highly likely to be very suitable.

The company Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR) works with NuScale to build SMR's. Therefore, it is possible that Fluor could become a customer for EdenCrete. Fluor Corporation is a global engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction and maintenance company with projects and offices on six continents. Fluor has 45,000 employees and specialises in building and providing sustainable solutions by designing, building and maintaining safe, well executed projects. Fluor had revenue of $14.3 billion in 2019 and is a Fortune 500 company. Their headquarters are in Irving, Texas. See the following link for more about Fluor:

In the US, Joe Biden plans to support and develop SMR's. Mainly because such reactors are safer and cost about half of the construction cost of current reactors. See link:

With the advent of SMR's, I see EdenCrete possibly getting the nod, just like it has done for the upcoming construction of a number of Data Centres.

Wishing you all a successful day and a good weekend.
