"New Zealand carriers to form nfc venture with payments provider" by sarah clark.Three NZ telco's ,vodafone nz,telecom nz and 2 degrees plan to establish a "joint venture company" with paymark nz(nz's equivalent to our visa/mastercard payment network) to provide nfc technology.The joint venture company will allow subscribers to make payments,collect loyalty points and pay for public transport with their phones.Telecom nz,vodafone nz and 2 degrees will continue to compete vigorously for customers by developing their own innovative services on top of the open platform infrastructure.CEO of 2 degrees nz said,"over the past decade,our mobile phone has swallowed our newspaper,our map and our camera to become an essential all in one device.The logical next step is to make it even more convenient by having it swallow our wallet"my comment,compare above with the outdated speech by telstra's cto,once again even in NZ 2 degrees,vodafone and telecom nz have the answers and ability to establish the technology.
