Since we don't elect our pollies because of their belief in matrimonial fidelity, it would be a ridiculous course to take. If we took that course how many pollies would still be Parliament? We elect people as our representatives not sanctimonious angels.

That's not to say I don't feel some sympathy for his spouse or the spouse of any polly in Canberra who is forced to spend so much of their time away from their family.But presumably their spouse would have been aware of this downside to their long term relationship when they were married. including the long term financial benefits thereof, especially in a safe seat.
