Investors have no need for concern because the level of contaminants in the bore water is either many many many times below harmful levels, or undetectable at all.
The enviromentalists and the community of Kingaroy have no need for concern either as any reasonable person who has read DERM's last two media releases would realise that there is absolutely nothing to be alarmed about.
Common sence will have to prevail here because if DERM was to keep CXY shut down based on the water results just received then Coal Bed Methane (CBM) has no chance either.
All the reseach that I have done on both UCG and CBM suggests that UCG leaves much less of a footprint on the enviroment then CBM whilst also only requiring an area 16 times less in order to extract the same quantites of gas out of the coal seam. UCG also offers 25-40 % lower emissions.
As an alternative way of extracting gas from coal the fundamentals are compelling for UCG and the benifits far out way any of the costs that may be involved with water contamination with results such as those seen in the last couple of days.
