Spectur's strategy for the building industry has been to transition from retailing provision of site surveillance services to individual residential builders, to focus sale of site surveillance services more to large building companies for all their building project work.
It's difficult to tell whether Spectur is making any headway with that strategy as the list of client firms and the list of corporate client testimonials are hopelessly dated on the company web site (circa 4 years old). Furthermore, while recent Facebook posts by Spectur have had a major orientation towards the building industry, there has been precious little information about the number of cameras involved, or the companies involved. In the absence of such information, it is difficult not to conclude that recent postings by Spectur related to the building industry are just puffing up recent retail sales of individual cameras.
Recently, I had cause to drive through Casuarina where the building industry has been engaged in major residential and commercial ribbon development for well over a decade. All the major east coast residential and commercial property building developers have a presence there. So, I thought I would try and track down the site that relates to the recent Facebook post by Spectur of an HD5 camera at Casuarina, in order to work out whether the site was being developed by a major project builder. If it was, that would have been a promising sign (to me anyway) that Spectur kit might be getting used elsewhere in the massive Casuarina precinct by that company. Regrettably, I was unable to track down the particular camera and therefore ascertain the name of the building company involved, the size of the company involved, the size of the site in question, the number of cameras deployed at the site, and ultimately have a reference point for further investigation of the use of Spectur cameras by the building company in question.
It really frustrates me that Spectur has this feeding the chooks approach to its Facebook offerings and it makes me think that perhaps most of these building industry posts are simply isolated retail examples of camera sales. If that's the case, then, from my brief tour of the Casuarina development precinct, I can say that Spectur is getting walloped at Casuarina by Sightmaster on the retail sales front, as the latter seems to be the surveillance camera of choice for smaller project home builders.
This morning I saw the Facebook image below which shows an HD5 camera in the foreground of a seemingly large commercial development (which appears to be in Perth), but once again, there is no reference to the name of the project builder, size of the site, number of cameras involved - all things which would be useful for investors wishing to do their own research/due diligence. Perhaps I am being overly cynical, but my suspicion that this post may have been just another puff piece about an isolated retail sale by Spectur was not allayed by the beautifully framed Site Sentry camera in the background at the substantial development by Sarich Building Industry on the other side of the road!!
Why is Spectur so secret squirrel about which project builders are using their kit at major development and so blase about showing competitors kit and the project builders that are using it??
OK frustration now purged.
