How many traders are speculators and how many are investors?
Just thought I would open a thread on views on this area.Everybody has their own thoughts on this. It also depends on your risk profile. You could argue that all share purchases are speculating.
If you are investing in a company that does not have a profit history it is speculating.
If you are investing in a company with a proven profit history it is investing however it could be speculating if the share price is above intrinsic value.
Dictionary definition
Speculating - Engagement in risky business transactions on the chance of quick or considerable profit/A commercial or financial transaction involving speculation
Investing - the investing of money or capital in order to gain profitable returns, as interest, income, or appreciation in value.
