@Wycland, in 2013 Klaus Eckhoff bought the Manono extension licenses for a company called Alphamin Resources (V.AFM). That was to start a tin mining operation. Later AFM bought other tin licences in Kivu, DRC and gave back the Manono extension licenses.
I'd suggest checking out the Alphamin Resources website to get an idea about tin in DRC. And also the notes posted by @mineralised in the past about the historic Manono-Kitotolo area.
The Extension licenses are now in AVZ hands and as you probably have read, it looks like the goods are also plenty on those licenses.. ("larger than expected")

P.S. Last week AFM announced they are going ahead with the development. Very bullish for DRC!
