Also, AstraZeneca approach Gilead to acquire them to the tune of $232b USD... It fell through. Reading through some of the other failed mergers / acquisitions, there are some lessons to learn on where the risk gets too large for the purchaser (I imagine lawyers get involved, and shareholders vote against it because they may not understand the products being acquired) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_mergers_and_acquisitions#Largest_ever_deals_which_have_failed_to_complete
Something I think all us SHers need to be aware of, that just because there are talks, deals still fall through and the purchasing company shareholders need to come along on the journey too. Maybe @RaceOncology Dr T and PL have seen some of these first hand and have done scenario planning surrounding this situation.
