There are loads of red light camera installs in the USA. But they have not activated the speed enforcement in the intersections. Why?
My source says it's because the municipalities haven't asked for it. A very rought ball-park estimate would be another $10K per intersection (or per approach...? not sure) would be required to enable the speed enforcement.
So... why wouldn't they want to make the extra $$$? Could it be politically undesirable? Is there a privacy issue? Could it be poor marketing by RDF?
