As in any job you can think of there are always the ones that play up.Years ago about 40% of drivers were cowboys and nowadays about 5% and these are the ones with the speed limiter tampered with.I do not know about Tassie but Vic Qld and SA there is not many trucks at all that would do more that 102 klm.

Another thing is the B Double that went through the houses the other day and killed the boy, that was tragic but the ute that had the VB cans in it crossed the road and knocked the steering out of the truck. The thing here is truck rootes and houses do not mix because there is no room for error as there is always accidents.A prime example is the truck roote around Bendigo Vic,they have changed it from 80KLM to 60KLM and subdivided it and there are now houses side by side right up to the road, even on a corner where many trucks have rolled in the past.An accident will happen along there and it will not be good. Blame the truck, blame the car, blame the sun, blame the council, blame who ever you like but B Doubles are big so build the roads to suit and give them a bit of run off space. They pay enough in fuel tax because they get between 1.3 and 1.7 KLMS to the LTR.

One other little thing is speed limiting P platers.
It will not work. They do not have the skills and judgement to have cars limited. The only way would be is limit them to 120 klm.
Many many years ago we had a mate that would speed all the time and pass many cars so me being a mechanic fitted a speed limiter to his EH holden(179)and thought we were all safe. How wrong could we have been.He pulled out to pass as normal but run out of speed and there we were out beside someone with a car coming towards us.He had no judgement and the limiter made it worse so we removed it after he had to many close calls.A bit of extra speed can sometimes help if you get into a sticky situation due to the lack of driving experience and judgement (P PLATERS).This is only my view and the experiences that I have had.
