It does get a bit annoying I guess.
And you are right in regard to not always picking up on spelling errors.
It would though I think, on the whole, make some difference to the number of mistakes, although as I have said before, I tend to overlook spelling errors as rather unimportant and certainly do not use spelling errors to get in a cheap shot at someone.
