re: spi got sold off gann45 farsight, I am not sure how to answer it, it would seem logical to me that fund managers would cause these trends to blow out of proportion, but the figures don't lie, its become more accurate in recent times then say back in the 1900's.
The market obviously carrys a lot more energy at these levels, i.e. the whole 1920's bull market the dow can move in a few minutues today, so I would assume all the money that is pilled up is in proportion to the energy level of the market and thus why it has no effect. The improvment in the ideal values is probably due to the market been more liquid.
