Jeez you have to laugh. When the very large Fitzroy River bridge washed away it was rebuilt within 12 months from woe to go. In the heart of aboriginal land at Fitzroy Crossing and not a river Serpent or Waggyl to be considered. Not in our back yard said the elders? Get down south where they have been constructing a dual lane highway between Capel and Busselton with 3 very small bridges over 3 very small creeks and there are river serpents galore. So far they have completed 8 kilometers of road in over 3 years now, with those bloody river serpents causing heaps of delays and grief.
