Before I start it should be stated that if this is happing to you all day long and is affecting your quality of life, you should see a doctor.
Do you get ringing in the ears and maybe another type of sound on and off, sometimes just in the right ear or left, other times in both ears, if this is happening to you it may be your higher self and spirit guides trying to contact you.
I get ringing in my ears every night and sometimes during the day, does not bother me because I can just ignore the ringing if I want to and it is not very loud, sometimes I get a special type of ringing sound in my right ear that is a bit like the old dial up internet of years ago, I think it is awesome.
