The medium to long term prospects of lithium are undeniable, and are the foundation for my substantial investment in PLS. I'm unclear as to why that's being discussed, because my posts were in reference to a 2021 (& 1st half 2022) spodumene price of $1000 per ton.
CATL's 2023 plans are wonderful, but irrelevant for this debate. As you know, it takes 2 years to build a battery factory, with an additional 9-12mth qualification process. CATL's 2023 plans have minimal influence on 2021 spodumene prices.
And even if independent conversion facilities are finished tomorrow, they still need to undertake that extensive qualification process if they're doing business with Panasonic, LG Chem etc for the first time. Even an existing customer with a new factory needs to perform it, albeit more quickly.
Posco has also publicly stated a 2023 completion date, so it's also irrelevant to this discussion.
