The battery manufacturers had their chance to take over a few lithium mining companies during the downturn in lithium prices not that long ago.
Now that the supply demand curve has changed to favour the miners, the battery makers can suck it up and pay the elevated prices for spodumene until enough lithium mines come online to bring the price back down.
