It was up in the morning. Perhaps this was when some contracts were closed out.
The volumes are suspicious though as China only produced 43100mt of lithium carbonate in November. Where is the remainder going to come from to honour the contracts? Stockpiles? More will have to be closed out before the settlement date.
There has been some wild speculation in the LC2401 contract. The subsequent months have much smaller open interest.
The spot and futures contract prices for lithium carbonate looks to be just about the same at the moment when comparing GFEX with some spot values. It may be that because of this there isn't too much of an issue to close out the futures contracts (spot = futures, so futures have less meaning).
