Some of the major media outlets globally, such as WSJ, FT are all over the the lithium supply/demand imbalances. Probably invested in the high profile EV manufacturers, so shortage of cells would impact those investments. I won't mention government legislation, and all the bring forward announcements from the OEM's due to that legislation.
The world is ready and is adopting EV's and battery storage to replace ICE and coal/gas generators. On the later, economics are driving the storage adoption, see US 2020 Q4 deployments, up 182% on 2020 Q3, moving very fast.
While it's a good idea to be conservative with our forward assessments, hopes, etc, said government legislation (government dollars in many forms) is underpinning the strength and trajectory of the thematic, no betting required, providing you pick the winners. So very, very strong tailwind could easily see exposed equity prices deviate from reality at any point, so it seems maintaining positions and patience is all that is required atm.
