I just stumbled across a report from a number of months ago that here in NZ a couple of BESS are to be built for contact energy.They could well be functioning by now given the time frame the South Australian site was built and that Tesla is involved.
NZ electricity is around 80% hydro. It really surprises me that the electricity boys are finding it better to build BESS rather than using stored hydro as your battery.
So bottom line is if it makes sense to construct BESS here in NZ then the rest of the world must need BESS in spades.
Future demand growth for Lithium is looking pretty good to me.
