Lithium Prices Outpace Expectations -- Market Talk

0206 GMT - Prices for spodumene, a source of lithium, continue to rise faster than anticipated, says JPMorgan. It raises its price forecasts by up to 25% for the coming five years and now tips a 2024 price of US$1,000/ton, rivaling the previous cycle's high. "The higher prices reflect spodumene catching up to the improving chemicals prices, continued tightness across the lithium supply chain and the lack of any significant supply response," JPM says. In Australia, Pilbara Minerals is most leveraged to the forecast higher prices, leading JPM to raise its target on the miner by 31% to A$1.05/share, it says.
