when a stock is included in an index it gives it more visibility and liquidity as funds and institutions are (for the most part) only allowed to invest in stocks included in indexes and etts.
It also means when funds buy the index they automatically buy shares in LTP (the number of shares will depend on the LTP weight within the index)...in other words passive buying.
