Perhaps due to public hospitals being understaffed and overrun gives the govt a very good reason to 'privatize':

    https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/ontario-health-care-privatization-1.6547173

    Excerpt:

Ontario's health minister isn't ruling out privatization in health care as the government looks at ways to deal with a major staff shortage straining hospitals across the province.

Interim NDP Leader Peter Tabuns said any health-care privatization "would be a disaster for Ontario."

Another public service (or parts thereof) on the chopping block?? Surely going private is in the interests of all. Isn't it a little odd to say due to staff shortages - perhaps staff have already been lured away to the private sector and if not, wouldn't the private sector suffer similarly?? Affordable healthcare for all?? Begs the question - they knew the pandemic was coming - did they build more hospitals and did they hire more staff?? Could part of staff shortages be due to cuts in staffing levels over the last few years plus of course people getting sick/dying??

    https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/alberta-health-services-job-cuts-tyler-shandro-1.5760155

    Excerpt:

Alberta Health Minister Tyler Shandro has softened an aggressive plan to lay off front-line staff, including nurses, and extended the timeframe for a massive overhaul of the province's health-care system....

Between 9,700 and 11,000 AHS employees will be laid off, most of whom work in laboratory, linen, cleaning and in-patient food services. Those jobs will be outsourced to private companies.

Blaming the pandemic - but was the plan was to privatize?? Is such a plan to come to down under?? rolleyes.png
